If you've played the game Steins Gate or read the Science Adventure series, this post is not for you. But if you've watched the anime and are now interested in seeing what all the hype was about, this post is for you! What's so great about Steins Gate? Frankly put, it's an exceptional anime by mad genius madman Hidetaka Suehiro (or 'Sueki', as he prefers to be called). It takes place in Akihabara (that classic otaku/geek district), and chronicles a team of self-proclaimed mad scientists who accidentally create a time machine. A week prior to their discovery of the machine, the series follows the protagonist Okabe Rintarou as he tries to uncover the mysteries behind its creation. That description doesn't really tell you much more about Steins Gate or its original creator, Hidetaka Suehiro. Suehiro was born in 1975. He's an avid gamer and is particularly fond of RPGs, including Final Fantasy VI (or 'VI', as it is more commonly known). He began working on his first game, Tokimeki Memorial ("Minna no Yume Tameni"}, at age 13. While still a teenager, he designed what would become the visual novel "Angel's Blessing. At age 18, he worked on his first visual novel, "A Day After The release of Angel's Blessing was met with mediocre reviews, which prompted him to make the RPG-based I/O. This game explains how the Team 'Okabe' (the main cast of characters in Steins Gate) came together. As of July 2012, Hidetaka had sold over 1.5 million copies of his games worldwide. His best performing works are "Steins Gate" and "Steins Gate Zero". Both have won numerous awards in Japan and around the world. One example is how Steins Gate was recognized as #1 at the Newtype Anime Awards 2013. Brief Synopsis: Okabe Rintarou (or 'Okarin' as he calls himself online) is an eccentric college student who has become an otaku. He particularly loves to read and discuss about future technology, specifically Artificial Intelligence (AI). His favorite place to geek out at is the local game store, "Chaos". There he meets several other misfits, all of whom are equally anti-social. The group forms a lab on campus, calling themselves "Future Gadget Laboratory" or 'FGL'. Their goal is to think up new technologies and build them. They use their ideas for fun, but also to further scientific knowledge. Among the regulars are Daru, Mayuri, Kurisu Makise, Shiina Asuka, and Mayuri's little sister Ruka. Okabe's friend-turned-rival, Rintaro is dating Madarame Ikuya. Ikuya is a bright scholar who loves to make intelligent remarks about Okabe's behavior. He met Madarame when Madarame was working at FGL. They both later got promoted to Researcher status. Though they are researching ways to make technology better, they do not have any particular goal in mind at present. This leads Madarame into believing that Okabe lacks any sense of direction or purpose beyond his own personal interests in AI research. cfa1e77820
